Together we have made a difference!
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the love and support you have given Papillon 911 Rescue and Adoption Inc. We have had our great successes over the years because of you and people like you who believe as we do - that all of God's creatures deserve honor and respect and and a gentle caring open hand.
In 2002, it became more and more apparent that the puppy mill industry was growing out of control. Terrible cruelty was making a profit at the cost of misery and broken spirits. The stories coming from the dog auctions affected us deeply and people all over the country started talking together about how to take steps - large or small - to end puppy mills.
Because John and I had Papillon companions already, we and other Pap families decided to focus on helping as many of these tiny charming butterfly dogs as possible. We wanted to offer them the chance to enjoy the same lives as our precious "heart dogs", T'ai Ch'i and Morgan, were living every day. In 2004, Papillon 911 Rescue and Adoption, Inc became a Federally licenced 501c3 non profit corporation. We know that over the years, we have given love and comfort to well over 700 Papillons. Their health and well being has been the driving force in so many of our lives.
Time has changed us all, both with two feet or four paws, so many have moved on and now are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. Once, Pap 911 Rescue had 70-80 dogs at a time in foster homes across the country. Today, in 2019, we are supporting 12 very special sanctuary dogs. Our commitment to them is as strong as it was to the first bedraggled puppy mill escapee, tiny Ivy.
Ivy came to us emaciated and weak, setting her feet for the first time on soft grass. I thought at first she would cringe and shake or run away as fast as her little bony legs would move. But not Ivy! I swear! She shrugged her shoulders, lifted her head and slowly turned to observe this new world around her. "At last, she seemed to say, "I am safe. I am home."
Before John passed away, we set aside a fund to care for every one of our current Papillon foster family members. On that day, we had approximately 30 Paps in our custody. Now we have 12 sanctuary Papillon foster family members. Seven live with me and 5 live with their wonderful foster families. All but 2 are over 10 years old. At this time, blind, deaf, seizures, heart and liver failures, unfixable behavior problems, we no longer consider any of them adoptable. We will cover all expenses for the rest of their lives and they will continue to be honored and adored.
I know each of you are aware of the medical expenses that senior dogs can incur. Because of that, we hope that you will continue your loving donations for a while longer if possible. In the event I am no longer able to administer this fund, the existing fund and any new additional income will be held to be used for medical needs and additional expenses upon the advice and guidance of our veterinarian for the past 10 years, Dr. Leslie Brown of The Animal Hospital of East Cobb, Marietta GA.
Again, I want to thank you for every moment of your friendship and support.. Taking care of these unique angels has filled my life with a special reason to look forward to the next day. I hope you will stay with me through this last chapter of Papillon 911 Rescue, Adoption and now Sanctuary.

WELCOME TO OUR
PAP 911 FAMILY
UNTIL THERE ARE NONE
Every morning that dawns
Every day that passes
We renew our vow:
Take every Pap that needs us
Help Every One
Open your heart and your purse strings
Until There Are None!
I know that there are so many Paps out there
that need help.
If we are going to take in new rescues,
we need to have active fosters and volunteers. Until we do,
we must limit incoming needs and concentrate on our sanctuary Papillons.
We need to continue our fundraising efforts,
and we need volunteers who are determined
to follow through with new projects.
Please! Give the gift of commitment!
